Alienware Area 51-ALX
6-Core i7 990x Factory OC to 4.0 (stock alienware watercooling)
3x4GB Tri-Channel 1600mhz
1.2kW PSU
2xAMD Radeon 6970 2GB CrossFire
OCZ RevoDrive X2 240GB
4x300 GB VelociRaptor 10k (raid 10)
2x3TB Hitachi 7x3000 (raid 1)
BluRay Multi Burner
and i still really suck at video games
(and taking pics)
The funny story here is I had budgeted $3000 for a new workstation for my office at OSU. I was like hmmm what is Alienware offering through Dell Premier OSU portal? Well I go to configure the most expensive rig I could, and the "6-core 990x OC 4.0ghz" was mistakenly subtracting $2200 rather than adding $2200. I freaked out and sent the order through right away to see if they would honor it, chose overnight shipping, and it showed up 5 days later. The thing hauls ass. Ended up being just under $3000 with a 5 year warranty with accidental damage protection as well. God bless price mistakes!

Performance
486DX2 - This shouldn't be confused with the inferior 486SX. The DX monster is upgraded with Intel's OverDrive chip, which includes the coprocessor, which is far superior to the SX version.
Type: 32-bit multitasking microprocessor
Transistors: 1,100,000 to 1,200,000 (1.0 micron)
Package: 168 or 169-pin PGA
Registers: 32 32-bit
Real Mode: Performs as a 16-bit 8086 CPU; addresses 1MB memory.
Protected Mode: Addresses 4GB physical and 64TB virtual memory; provides access to memory protection and 32-bit instructions.
Virtual 8086 Mode: Protected Mode subset that runs a Real Mode application in a virtual machine.
I can run windows on this thing not having to boot DOS.
Games
Mostly Microprose stuffs..
X-Com, Master of Magic, Master of Orion.
New Sid Meier games run smooth on it... Civilization, Colonization.
Dropped the old 5.25 floppy disc drive for the newer 3.5 disc drive. ( had to get that to run X-Com)

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz
GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L
GeForce 8800GT Superclocked 512MB
2x1GB GSkill DDR2 800
2x2GB CORSAIR DDR2 800
A-DATA S596 Turbo 64GB SSD (main OS, primary games)
1TB internal WD (music, games, swap)
1.5TB external Seagate (backup, fucking EVERYTHING)
19" + 22" LCD Monitors
Been running strong for 4yrs now, currently playing Bulletstorm, everything maxed. Added the SSD (HD failure, figured why not) and threw another 4GB RAM at it about a month ago, breathed whole new life into it. Hopefully will get me through college, and be able to at least run PSN.

The new Rig:
The gateway that I was using, but now is my TV/Video machine:
New rig:
AmdPhenom II X6 3.2
some kinda raid 0 thing going on
and some kinda 8g ram going on there, theres a thingy that liquid cools the other thing....
some lights, big fans that are really quiet... and I just realized how f'n big it is....too big.
But it works...and I like it.
Old machine: quad core amd thing. Bah who cares.
Stand back while the computer-turned-pizza guy gets technical on your ass!

LOL yeah, I have a shitload of old VHS tapes, they are currently being digitized and the cases/tapes being thrown out. Before the tape entirely goes bad. Surprised how bad they can get in 10 or 15 ....or20 years.
