The original monster Miatas used stroked Ford 351's and 302's (the 5.slow). It was a reasonable thing to do when you consider that a lot of Ford R&D went into the Miata in the first place. As of late, people have tended toward the GM LS series due to their all aluminum blocks, extensive and affordable aftermarket parts, and more reliable drivetrains. The T-56 6-speed is the same one they use in Aston Martin DB-7's, Vanquishes, Corvettes, Vipers, and Caddy CTS-V's. It's hard to get more bulletproof than that.
With the LS swap, you pick up less than 200lbs in a car that only weighs 2,100lbs to begin with. The front-rear weight distribution shifts from 50/50 to 51/49, but just barely. This is totally going to happen and when it does, there won't be a car within two-hundred miles that can keep up. Especially after I supercharge it.
Seriously, anyone have any money?
