Our good friend Jay over at The Wiz of Odds brought to our attention something that usually would been the most interesting new development about the Oregon Ducks football program, if they didn't have, well - you know, a semi-busy winter off the field this year.
But John Hunt of The Oregonian mentioned that a new emphasis on the field for Chip Kelly and the Ducks has been installing a brand-new system for calling in plays, after it appears that their calls from the sidelines may have been hacked.
"There were a couple times last year when we kind of felt like our signals were, maybe, compromised," offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich said.
One of those games just so happened to be the Granddaddy of them all, when Ohio State shut down the prolific Oregon offense, holding them to just 260 total yards and only 90 passing from computer whiz quarterback Jeremiah Masoli.
The new system of signals coming in will now incorporate hand signals as well as poster-sized images. Expect to see everything from a shamrock, to the planet earth, to Shaquille O'Neal popping up on the sidelines, which should help add a layer of subterfuge to teams that may try to crack Kelly's new code.
