I'd invest a large portion of it so I could live off of the interest, then buy a nice boat and just spend the next few years sailing around the world spending as much time as I wanted where ever I went. When I got tired of that I'd start a bar on the beach somewhere called the Flip Flop Shop.

lol? interest on 4k? boat with 4k? thing you misread the amount.

I would buy a new HDTV, and probably build a new PC for Win7 64bit with left over.

Approx 1,200 to 1,500 - Towards a new HD TV, around 52 inches, with a great refresh rate for gaming

The next step depends upon long term investment.  ARe you willing to spend $$ on BluRay Disks or are you looking into the digital setup that Varg recently did.

about $150 for a BluRay or $300 for a PS3

How much are you into watching TV?  If you guys have a handful of shows that you watch I would highly recommend a Tivo HD which run about 500 I think, they6 are wonderful machines.  The only downside might be if you want HDTV from your cable company and if they can only route that through a cable box.

Other Stuff

$1000 Trip to either somewhere warm or to Colorado for skiing

I like Red's Mountainbike idea -> $500

Sure.... I inherited about $4400 and change.  My wife INSISTS I spend it on myself.  I figured I would take a percentage of it and invest it/savings account it and then buy something for myself.  I just built a Core i7 64 bit machine back in September so I don't really need a new compy.  Here's what's on my hit list...

Xbox 360
Drobo storage unit
New bigscreen
New outdoor movie screen for the summer with perhaps a projector upgrade
After all this fucking snow maybe I'll buy a fucking snowblower with heated hand grips
A couple games I've been looking to get (COD:MW2, Bad Company when it hits the shelves)
Second monitor for the compy
Second video card for the compy
Thought about a notebook, but not sure what I'd really do with it. Maybe if I got a sub-$500 one I wouldn't think it was a waste of money

That's about it..... not sure what else might need to be on that list of considerations.

Well if you're really into investing, you can go with gold, and you will NEVER lose with that.

And if this "recession" truly hasn't hit the hardest yet as some are speculating, then 4400 in gold could come up real big.

Get the biggest 120hz 1080p LCD you are comfortable with, then bank the rest, sounds like the common vote in the thread. *NOTE PS3 is better then 360 and will last longer M$ will be releasing its next console in year or two  Tongue

Yeah, yeah I misread the amount. So effing what.

With only 4k it would be a new TV/sound system for it.

So really, no one else would go the legal hooker route?  Blah!

Hawkes if you can last another month without a snowblower I would.  Buying a slightly used one during the summer for next winter will be a whole crapload cheaper than a new one this year.  And almost any used one you could get in the middle of a snowstorm is going to have some major problems with it.
