The game looks like it could be sweet, but you probably have to put a ton of hours into it in order to get anything out of it.

I talked one night with Phazie, Noizer. He has played the game since the begining. He told me alot about it and it sound very cool, but he stressed it has a high learning curve, but in the end it is worth it. I would PM him or talk with him about it on TS he explaned alot about it to me.

I'll give you the nonpolitics part of it.. I got Phazis started on EVE. Then I got fed up having a lame miner char and quit. A few months later I made a Gallente fighter pilot.. it was fun for a while until our corporation moved to Period Basis.. ugh.

I will aggree there are a lot of politics in it, but then again there is also lots of other aspects. Oh and eve cannot survive w/o the miners. There is piracy though!!! Yarr,
I am a 2 year vet of it, but my corp is on some down time while we figure out how to rebuild.
The economy cept for a few things is 100% player based, but its 1 market like in wow, there are 64 different markets in game.

I wanted to do piracy.. my friends made me stay in the corp instead of doing what I wanted to and camping Doril with a pirate corp all the time. Worst decision I made in EVE. I never had more fun than I did when I was 'accidentally' shooting blues to my alliance. Overview bug.

oh yeah, i hate those bugs, and you know every time it's fixed it finds a new way to break.. It took me a few weeks to find out how to set up my overviews so only red/neutrals only showed up. BUT, the new overview has tabs now so you can set up 6 tabs with 6 different overviews.

This was the largest pvp battle on record, at the peak of the fighting there were some 1100 players all in 1 spot trying to shoot. There was lag, lagg that makes Dalaran look like 0 ping.

The politics and events in that game have certainly entertained me.
The merc heist was certainly interesting.
Tell me, did you play Subspace by chance?

this game looks really interesting, but all that mining and farming shit is lame. Why cant it just be Planetside in space....

I tried EVE a couple times, and loved the idea of it. But yeah, the jobs were a huge part of it, so I got bored quickly. I wanted to start a space pirate crew. I thought that would be a blast. I had also been watching a lot of Firefly at the time.

No one knows the true meaning of boring until you have to do ice mining to supply 50 pos's.
