I was not planning to buy one but with purchase of new TV I'm on market for blue ray player. Started digging around and found the following:
1) if you get any decent credit history you open following credit card:

What you can simply do is buy the console, get the discount and pay of the card than cut it up (keep in mind you should keep account open for 4 years or it will hurt your credit score)
2) you can buy the console from "any authorized sony retailer" I'm my case I'm between amazon and dell but the list is long
from dell you can do the following:
- PLAYSTATION 3 Gaming Console with 80 GB Hard Drive 399.00
Coupon code "CTV2$2HX963145" chops it to $339.99 - I think that will work till the end of the year.
Coupon code "TP5NV0VMFJ9BCZ" (it stacks with the coupon above) to cut the prices to $322.99 - I believe that will work for another 7 days till 10th
You will end up paying 179.99 for PS3 80GB
I personally have 360 and I'm happy with it but sadly with purchase of TV I'm not to crazy on spending mad cash on blue-ray player.
Who knows you might want one for your kid this season etc and in this economy any discout helps so decided to share.
