The argument that unions contribute to higher prices is semi-valid.  Which comes first, the cart or the horse?  If a company is paying their employees unfairly, is that OK because you and I get to reap the benefits of cheaper prices?

BTW, the best job security.. Be valuable to you company, do a good job, and show up on time. If you can't do all those three, you probably need a union.

While I do agree with this statement, Some Unions are better and have looked passed 1950 for there doctrine, In Min I was part of the carpenters union, there Philosophy was that with wage out of the picture,( you should not lose your job because someone will undercut you in wages) that the hardest workers should keep there job, and for the most part it work. They paid you a good wage but they expected you to produce a certain amount every day. I think this is a good deal, We as a union made the decisions on our Health Insurance, Our Retirement, and ever Education within our trade, to be a forman, Job Sup. They actually seem to want to advance the Industry to a new lvl of expectation.  That was good.  When I moved to Idaho, things were diffrent, I was told that you work as fast and as hard as the worst person on the team so they will not lose there job, this system is a little flawed and needs to go away.

yep it old school thinking. Even in the non union sector alot of people have this attatude, but it is changing.
