I certainly know that. It gets played all the time, and always will. If it was beaten into my head my entire life that certain things would or would not happen to me because I am, lets say the dance commander, then I'd play the dance commander card everytime something I didn't like happened. The fact is he isn't 'black' anymore than he is 'white' if you want to get technical, yet people automatically classify him as being black.  Regardless of the fact that his mother is white.  Ask yourself why does our society label him 'black' and tell me the answer.

Sorry Turkley, but if you don't see why this is wrong I don't know what to tell you.  There is nothing wrong with being bi-racial, my children's aunt is bi-racial.  Yet it seems our liberal media loves to seize on the 'black' side of the man, and I don't understand why he is classified as being black when he clearly isn't.

Of course this also brings up the point of why aren't we all just Americans, I don't feel the need to run around and try to get special benefits by calling myself German-American.  But that's a dead horse already.

That being said.  I am bi racial.  I am not of African decent.  The way you are saying what you are saying is that the only way to be bi racial is to be white and black.  (which just saying you are white or black doesn't define your race).


He is being classified as being black because it is the first time someone of African decent has obtained the highest political office you can in this country.  A pretty big deal wouldn't you agree?  It has nothing to do with being racist, or special privliges or any of that.

Leave white out, and use this example, Say Obama is African American and Asian. Would it be the first time a person with African American decent or Asian decent made it to the Oval Office. I think it's great that a person with African American decent made it to the Oval office, but we are certainly not talking about someone who was EVER underprivledged.

I like to think of my self as Atlantic Islander. Half of my family is from Wales, the other half from Ireland. Both Islands in the Atlantic.

I have a problem with him being classified as being black, or being the first black anything personally.  But then, I'm not still living in the 1860s.  Until this country gets past the point of whether your mailman is black or white or asian it's always going to be the same ole shit being contorted and used for political propaganda and special priviledges by all involved.

Please, if anything, I wish this country would stop using "Race" to define colored variations of the same race, the same species.

That is a social creation and has no functioning factual basis in science. I'd hope that the mass would stop using this construct past it's real purpose.

He's proud of his heritage just as I'm proud of mine. He's the first African Decendant to be in the oval office. If people call him black, so be it. That's just another term for people of African Decent. Why is it such a big deal?

Exactly, that's the point.  Get the fuck over it.  Every variation of skin color has been enslaved or beaten down and opressed. I could give a shit less about the first anything.  You know why, because if he is a human then he isn't the first one.  But people want to still hang onto labels and skin color, which just causes more racism in this world.
