You know what pisses me off about Devin Townsend ? I know he is an awesome musician, I know his solo and SYL stuff is awesome, yet for some fucking reason I just never listen to him/it. I just somehow never get around to it. Meh.

I really can't get in to any of is stuff from what I have heard of it. It sounds really dated to the 90s, and Prong is about the only band I can do that has what I like to call 'not quite nu metal yet' sound. But watching the man pick sweep while bitching about life and what a waste of time pick sweeping is would confirm that he is a waaaaay better musician then I will ever be.

It's not, but the drum triggers and compressed guitars combined with vocal style reminds me of a lot of that stuff. It's kind of like how Faith No More is totally not Numetal, but if Faith No More didn't do what they were doing then Numetal probably wouldn't sound the way it does today.
It really comes down to a tonal quality thing for me I guess, I like things to sound way warmer/natural.
