Big changes have been going on in my life lately.  Bar closed, GF left me.  I'm starting a new job as a new car salesman (mitsubishi) tomorrow, but can't sleep.  So, here it is, Midnight, and been laying awake in bed...thinking.  I talked to my mother earlier, and she still wishes I would move down there, on account of more opportunity.  Let's face it, I live in depression city, and theres not much room to do anything.

So, for the first time in my life I'm thinking of picking up and moving.  So, hows the job market down that way?  Not even sure what I could do, but I'm pretty sure I am sick of life in Western New York.

Anyway, just musing while I have a smoke and try to find a way to go to sleep.

Cyas around

I am in the Raleigh-Durham area, commonly referred to as The Triangle.  As you know, I am in the tech field and the job market is picking up.  It was a little slow this summer, but I have been seeing more and more posted recently.  Thankfully, I am working (temp to hire at Duke University).  I am not sure what you want to do, but I can tell you this - the area is booming.  I would say 1 out of 3 people I meet are from somewhere else and have moved here within the last couple of years.  If you are construction, there is no lack of work whatsoever - they are building like crazy down here.  I would suggest looking at all the familiar job search engines to get a feel for the market, and you could also subscribe to one of the local papers.  Since I am unsure of your background and what type of job you would be looking for, it would be hard for me to say the market is good/bad.  However, the cost of living makes it a lot easier to get by while you are looking (that point of view is coming from me who used to live in NJ, so that is a little subjective also).  Catch me on TS one night and I'll be happy to talk to you about it - I have been giving my entire family the "Get out of NJ and into NC" sales pitch for a few months now.  I probably wont be on TS until early next week (family and travelling for Thanksgiving), so catch up with me then.

Well, I'm not exactly qualified for the tech field anymore.  Never really worked on the PC side of things, and the Mac world has changed completely since I last worked on those.  So...here's what I guess I could do.  Management, pretty much can manage and run anything.  Been bartending fairly regularly for about 11 years or so.

I'm sitting at my desk at the car dealership, studying the cars.  Majorly boring.  Although got to take them all out for a spin yesterday.

Endeavor is a nice SUV, Eclipse GT is hot, very hot, love that little thing.  (They wouldnt let me drive the Lancer EVO MR though)  Sad

Anyway, I guess Im just realizing i'm at a pretty major crossroad in my life...again.  No career (although trying to get one started) No ties....except my father and a few cousins, and I think my father could really care less what I did.  No more Girlfriend, she psychoed out on me at the lowest point of my life (go figure).  All I have is a big bowl of debt, which would be the one thing keeping me here.

Still, if opportunity exists somewhere, it surely isnt around here.

Some day I'll figure out what I want to do when I grow up too Tongue

Did you ever think of retail Stu?  Long hours, but you can certainly get in and work up to management.  If you are really good, you'll get paid even better.

Comming from a construction worker ( Carpenter By trade ) I would get into the building trade if possable,  Hard work but pritty strate forward.  I can speak about my EXP In the Minnesota is this.  Work is streadly for people that show up every day and just do there job, If you have half a brain and want to be you can be a forman and even a Job sup as the years go by. Personally I prefer to be a carpented but realisticlly Electrican ( both High and low voltage ) make the most ( 32.00 hr + ben), Then Plumber ( I personally like to call them SHit directors ) (29.00 +) then Carpenters(26.00-29.00). All union wages and our bennifits are on top of that .  because there union it public Knowlege.   Plunty of down falls,  I supply my own Hand tools, and because its geting cold here its time for me to work outside for the winter.

Alll I can say is this, Its nice to wake up in the morning and only have to make sure my boots are tied, and when its time to go home i can hange up my hard hat and my day is done.

Hey Stugots, quick question:

Are you working the showroom floor at the Mitsu dealership or do they have an internet sales department?  If you're working internet sales, what's the dealership name?

www.raylaks.com is our website.  (RL name is Mike, but not on the website or anything).

I was asking cause I work for a company called AVV and our product is called WebControl.  We have a contract with Mitsubishi dealerships to use our Internet Sales Management tool.  If you guys use it, you would call it Dealer Link, but it's the same thing as WebControl.

tragically, that's not the case.  If I were in the market, however, I'd be looking for a nice new WRX STi.  That's a dope little ride.

Hey Stu, i just found out these guys are hiring like mad in Charlotte http://www.carolina-handling.com , dont know if you have any mechanical exp, but seems like if you can read a multimeter these guys will train you from there.

I actually sent them my resume just now, starting pay is like 17/hour, kinda what i did in the air force.

Hey Stutoid, quick Xleepklop:

Are you working the Reptoid hatchery at the Klaku cocoon  or do they have a Xlaxclom egg nest?   If you're working Xlaxclom egg nest, what's the queen's name?

Fixed.

The wife and I were looking at possibly making a move down to the Charlotte area earlier this year, didn't work out for us BUT everyone and I mean everyone we talked to about Charlotte said it was an awesome city. The wife was looking at a job within her own company there that didn't work out but I was doing a lot of looking for myself, sales, management type stuff and there was quite a bit of things open down there.

Not looking at the moment, but if something came up in Charlotte or Colorado that was good enough we'd be gone in a heartbeat!
