Title: LFW!!!
Post by: BCBrent on September 01, 2006, 05:18:51 PM
You know how some people work for a living?

Well, as of today, this has changed.

Unfortunately, at the work I had, I made a kinda big mistake last month that ended up costing one of our customers.. that and a couple other things, so they decided to 'let me go' so to speak.  It sucks, because I was kinda hoping that this job would really get my foot in the door elsewhere, that and I like steady paychecks.

So this means that cashflow has gone from really good to uhh.. none, so I need to save some money.  I've canceled all my subscriptions as a precaution, I can still play both until about the 15th.  Getting a new job isn't the issue, its getting a good decent job with similar pay that's going to be tough.  So I'll probably pick up a temp job making close to minimun untill I can get back on my feet, and when I do I can resub into my games.

I'll still be on Xbox Live (SUCKS that I just paid 400+ for that last week) and I'm going to try to get my BF2142 working while its still free.

Wish me luck, i'm currently working on my resume to get it up to speed and see what my available options are :(

400+ for what???? dollars???

Also, what kind of work do you do.  My wife has some technical recruiting contacts that work around the country... they may also do other industries as well.

Suggestion Brent, Ive been this spot for a bit, I would take 45 bucks while you have it and pay for one subscription,  Keeping the sanity is important. Plus you have it now Will you have that 45 bucks in 2 months wether or not you save it now.  I don't have a clue what you did outside of customer service. so this i cant offer any advice ( plus taking advice form someone who hasent held a solid job for 4 months is the best thing to do)

BUT GOOD LUCK , Learn from you mistakes, Remember everything happens for a reason.

For an Xbox360, well, theoretically its only 300 dollars when I get my rebate back.  But I bought that with 2 games and such.

This last job was doing Software Support for their company's EDI software that ran as an addon for Microsoft Great Plains (Microsofts accounting software). Quick run down, EDI is a means that business use to electronically do sales orders, invoices etc.  My first plan of action is going to try and put up my resume on places like Monster.com and columbushelpwanted.com to see if I can find a decent job that way.

On tuesday I have a haircut appointment setup and I'll be out hunting applications that day.  I'll start with business looking to fill internships to see if I can get a decent paying job that way.  Then other decent paying places like Fedex or UPS, failing that, I go down the ladder until I find a place hiring. - if Worse comes to worst, there are 2 places nearby me that will rehire me no matter what, and thats the local AMC theater and the local Payless shoes, both of which would probably be 7 bucks an hour.

Its just hard leaving a cushy job where you liked the people you worked with and didn't mind waking up early for.  When I got fired I must have got about 5 phone calls within a couple hours, I hope I can find a place like that again.

And about your advice artic.  I decided earlier that I wouldn't take back my 360 unless I absolutely can't find a job, then I'll take it back, which at that point I would go ahead and sub something.  But that will hold my sanity for a while.  Besides, there is a decent chance I will have a new job by the 15th, but better be safe than sorry

Everyone who leaves comes back at least once.  Some leave again for good, but they always come back for an encore.

Hey Brent, I could probably hook you up with a jobby-job up here at AVV.  The lowest jobs on the totem pole basically require a pulse and even they are a guaranteed $30k a year.  Lemme know if you're interested.

No he speaks the truth, if you stay at a movie theater for more than 6 months you are either destined to stay there forever, or you will come back repeatedly.  I had a friend who worked there throughout high school, went to college for 4 years, then moved down to florida, couldn't find a job so he got hired at the local AMC.  TBH, I'm suprised I haven't gone back, I guess I figured 2.5 years is enough.

AVV is a software company that makes an internet sales management tool for car dealerships.  Basically, car sales are being taken over by internet shoppers, and our tool allows the salesmen to work their leads (prospective car buyers) and manage all their reporting and inventory from one place.  We're actually owned by Autobytel...who completely sucks.  Stu, lemme know if you wanna join the Columbus gang!  We've already got 7 Wolverines here that I know of!!!

Why would I want to live in a place that is as barren and flat as a 12 year old girl?

Although, I would love to go "visit my friend that goes to CSU" and meet up with yall.

Iowa is barren and flat.  Ohio is a lush, rolling land of opportunity!
