Well, it's the same folks that are cranking out that other shit game with an Xcom title.

Technically, they are the successor company to Microprose, but the folks responsible for the first two series are well gone, so wouldn't expect much. There's already some grumbling about what they are doing to the aliens.. reviving old classics such as Sectoids, and drastically altering them in uncharacteristic ways.


Would be interesting to see an Xcom mmo though. It's not the archetypes of aliens or the encyclopedia of content that needs to be reimagined, perhaps just the game style.

I thought Xcom Apoc (part 3?) was pretty awesome.

The fact that you could do a mission in real time rather than turn base was done so well. But the people behind the other xcom game that looks like xfiles are the folks who did bioshock. I dont think they are linked with the people making this one

No, they are being made (raped?) by the same people - 2kmarin / firaxis, which is the company that inherited the Xcom title from Microprose.

Otherwise there would have been legal issues with two companies holding a same title.


I guess out of the two, this latest one holds the best chance of even being remotely relevant. Could be good, but what they did with that other one really makes me doubt that.

Well on learning more, the  2k / Marin and 2k / Firaxis are two different teams, and after all the revelations of the game which has transpired since... the trailers, the demo, the playthrough, I can safely say this reimagining is legit.

I'm an  xcom fanatic, I still play the original. Allready pre ordered through steam. Playing my free copy of civ 5 from steam ( better then i thought) The new game will have things i don't like, but all games have flaws lets be honest. I plan on playing this  for a while.

Yeah, but you can imagine that there will be some mods made to add some of that oldschool touch.

I'm thinking myself to start a mod which would allow for the aliens to be played in campaign mode, pending enough of the source code is released to allow that.
