Anyone know where to get a good, sturdy, and flat desk? I dont want any crazy towers on top . Just a big desktop surface.

You ought to try Ashley furniture if you have it in your area. They tend to have a wider variety of options than say a big box retailer would provide.

We do have one. I never really went in because I heard they had high markups. I will go check them out anyway to see. Thanks for the tip.

I got just a flat desk with drawers on one side and file drawers on the other from Staples for <$200.  Of course it's not real wood, but it held up to my drunken abuse through college just fine.

Well yeah the merchandise will be a little more, though you will be getting real wood rather than particle board.

Use an old door.  Foam core wood is fine.  Just reinforce the one you have now, and put the door on top.  The hole where the knob should be makes a great place to route all your wires.  And I've tested how much shit you can put on top of it.  And...it's a lot!

Or, buy a screw gun, a router, and a saw and build it yourself.

Ikea sells DIY desk configs.  Different sizes of surfaces, and then you buy legs to attach to them.  you can custom config a pretty sweet desk for around 250bucks.  FWIW, shipping usually kills the deal on ikea stuff though, and ikea usually kills your heterosexuality

IKEA also sells a great flat workbench for around $100. Christine uses it for work holds all her shit, (Serger, Commercial grade sewing machine, bunch of other shit) No drawers, but you could make em or get someone else that goes under the table.

The ones I have are equipped with electrical outlets along the top shelf, the bench is a good 2 inch piece of wood (It's F*ckn heavy...like drop a nut heavy)
