Actually, I'm going to go with a fastback kit and widebody kit. Ultimately, the plan is to replace the drivetrain with a 480hp GM LS3, Tremec T56 6-speed, Getrag rear end, 245 series tires on 15x9 rims, big brake kit, AFCO coilovers, and full chassis reinforcement. Here's the fastback and widebody kits: http://autokonexion.com/product_info.php?cPath=13_9&products_id=39 If anyone out there has about $20,000 they don't need, I'll be happy to take it off your hands. If anyone has an extra 10g on top of JT's 20k I'll gladly take it. Title: Re: Hey JT, here's a new mod you can do to your car Post by: Jim Tressel on July 26, 2010, 03:07:15 PM I'll sell you a ZJ with 3" Pro-Comp lift that you can drive while you install the Brute on your TJ.
New brakes, radiator, shocks, tie rods, track bar drop bracket, quick-disconnect sway bar links, ball joints, and some other things I'm forgetting. I've got one of those too. Also, a '97 Ram 1500 in need of a tranny? '78 IH Scout II in need of full resto? I got what you need!
Title: Re: Hey JT, here's a new mod you can do to your car Post by: Redbear8 on July 26, 2010, 06:11:00 PM Scouts are awesome, but I'm not ready for a full restoration. Not with school starting for me soon. I'm still trying to find part time work.

BTW, my brother has an LS1 shortblock he might want to sell. Title: Re: Hey JT, here's a new mod you can do to your car Post by: Jim Tressel on July 26, 2010, 08:40:11 PM haha, I already e-mailed him about it. Is he keeping the heads, intake, ecu, accessories? If so, the shortblock is pretty useless, seeing as how there's a hole in the block and the internals are popped. I would only want it for the top end and electricals. Block, crank, pistons, rods, seals, and bearings will need replacement anyway. I guess the oil sump might be salvageable?

Title: Re: Hey JT, here's a new mod you can do to your car Post by: Jim Tressel on July 26, 2010, 10:28:39 PM I will once we get the barn up at my brother's house. He says the concrete guys will be out in a week or two to pour the slab. I keep telling him to rub some funk on it so we can get the fucking thing up before winter hits. He's a slacker, what can I say?
Title: Re: Hey JT, here's a new mod you can do to your car Post by: Stugots on July 27, 2010, 12:05:00 AM Sweet kits for the Miata.
You know they sell kits to put a mustang drivetrain in miatas? Monster Miata or something. Although....from what I saw on those the numbers weren't really impressive. Of course...the numbers on a stock fox chassis 5.0 from a mustang weren't terribly hardon giving either. Hate to say it but yeah, the GM Sounds like a better choice hehe. As far as my projects: My poor Tbird is up for sale, (noone wants to give me what I want..) haven't done a damn thing to it....including driving it in about a year or so so....time to say goodbye. Pinto is under the cover and waiting for...everything to happen to it I guess. And, I'm thinking of making the Xr4ti into a trailer. Plus just bought a new truck...and still waiting for my landlord to pick up my xterra...and my father's truck is waiting to be sold. ....too many projects not enough time. Pinto will be the keeper though, just not enough of those around in as good condition as the one I have. Although...it could use floors. I really like that miata idea though, go for it, defenitly nice looking kit for it! Title: Re: Hey JT, here's a new mod you can do to your car Post by: Jim Tressel on July 27, 2010, 01:16:10 AM The original monster Miatas used stroked Ford 351's and 302's (the 5.slow). It was a reasonable thing to do when you consider that a lot of Ford R&D went into the Miata in the first place. As of late, people have tended toward the GM LS series due to their all aluminum blocks, extensive and affordable aftermarket parts, and more reliable drivetrains. The T-56 6-speed is the same one they use in Aston Martin DB-7's, Vanquishes, Corvettes, Vipers, and Caddy CTS-V's. It's hard to get more bulletproof than that.
With the LS swap, you pick up less than 200lbs in a car that only weighs 2,100lbs to begin with. The front-rear weight distribution shifts from 50/50 to 51/49, but just barely. This is totally going to happen and when it does, there won't be a car within two-hundred miles that can keep up. Especially after I supercharge it. Seriously, anyone have any money? |
