Title: Windows 7 small annoyance Post by: Stugots on February 19, 2010, 02:30:27 AM So.... I got 7 pretty much the week it came out. Fast forward till last month when I decided to start buying some songs and putting them on my zune. (till this point was still using my computer to just charge it and hadn't installed the software yet). Now...only when I use the zune software (whether the thing is plugged in or not) sometimes I get a BSOD memory dump reboot thing.
I guess it's happening to a few people, just wondering, (IIRC Red used to have a 1st gen Zune, I got mine refurb from woot.com last year, and only really use it as a music player in the car), if anyone else has had this annoyance? Also having another little annoyance that I guess is fairly common. I defragged my HD the other day, and now some of my icons come up as generic. Just annoying more than anything, guess some others have had it too and no solutions have come through. Guess I just wanted to see if anyone had heard of these and/or if you hear of any fixes you could let me know, I don't have tons of time to go searching for solutions (when so far it appears as there aren't any yet). Title: Re: Windows 7 small annoyance Post by: Jim Tressel on February 19, 2010, 04:45:57 AM not sure if it's related, but are you running 32 bit or 64? I don't have a lot of personal experience with this since I had already switched from my Zune to the iPwn by the time I put Win7 on my home comp.
Title: Re: Windows 7 small annoyance Post by: Stugots on February 19, 2010, 05:09:48 AM Thanks for the helpful post Zonk.
And yeah, it was 80 bucks for a 30gb music player, pretty much a great deal when I got it. I'm running 64 bit. And thanks Kastil for the info, guess I'll have some reading to do. BUT I probably won't do much about it, it doesn't happen much and usually only when I go to shutdown. Title: Re: Windows 7 small annoyance Post by: Kastil on February 19, 2010, 01:56:39 PM Ah, most of their posts were talking about problems while running several other things in addition to the Zune software. I'm sure they'll slap out an update soon with a fix.

Title: Re: Windows 7 small annoyance Post by: ZONK on February 19, 2010, 08:52:44 PM Thanks for the helpful post Zonk. I will say sorry if that is what you want, and I am sorry I couldn't help but I don't have any experience or knowledge with zune or Win7. If I could have helped I would have like in other threads. So I guess I could have not posted anything, but come on man, this isn't a manufacture discussion tech support forum, you gotta have some laughs when dealing with electronics, problem solving BSODs will drive you crazy, like Night. Title: Re: Windows 7 small annoyance Post by: thrun on February 21, 2010, 03:01:47 AM Personally I like Windows 7, my only gripe is starcraft doesn't run on it and I have to use an ad in to run it in windowed mode to get it to work right.
Vista was so/so and I am not saying there are any huge reasons to upgrade from XP, but over all I am pleased with my user experience in 7. Title: Re: Windows 7 small annoyance Post by: Stugots on February 21, 2010, 05:00:45 AM Oh...other than this zune thing, I LOVE windows 7. Makes so much more sense than vista.
Title: Re: Windows 7 small annoyance Post by: ZONK on February 21, 2010, 05:13:10 AM Agree 100% Only reason I don't run Win7 (I even have a copy of it), is because I am only running 2 gigs of ram in my PC, and it just wouldn't benefit me to upgrade from XP. I would lose near a gig of RAM to the OS compared to XP. I just needed another target to make fun of for the double facepalm to work.
Holding on to my copy of win7 (free copy from college) until if ever I upgrade my motherboard + ram. Probably won't happen since PC gaming is dead. Long love consoles *runs and hides* zune sucks |
