Its going into a Antec 300 case, using a high quality cpu and graphics card so im not sure I need to upgrade for cooling. Probably will add a fan. Thoughts? Is money being spent on a component that should be spent on something else? I could dump the X-FI and get a some other case, or even add another 4890 for crossfire, is the x-fi worth it? Title: Re: The Varg 3000 Post by: Reddawn on October 18, 2009, 12:45:57 AM ditch the soundcard and get a regular cheap x-fi and put the 100 bucks in the video card....or take the 100 and buy your wife something you selfish prick

Title: Re: The Varg 3000 Post by: ZONK on October 18, 2009, 07:43:02 AM Not sure why a sound card would need PCI-e speed, lol. I probably bias I use to getting on-board sound since it easily matches my non-surround sound needs.
Title: Re: The Varg 3000 Post by: Aldoran on October 18, 2009, 11:19:30 PM I have to go with the others here, In most cases you won't hear the difference between cheap AC97 sound and the SB titanium.
If you're running a huge 7.1 media surround sound setup through your living room, maybe, but with a regular set of speakers you're wasting money on something you'll never experience. Otherwise, sounds good. grats! Title: Re: The Varg 3000 Post by: Kastil on October 18, 2009, 11:29:39 PM I'm doing internet from my Wii. Thats what you need.

2009, the year the funny died. Title: Re: The Varg 3000 Post by: gr0n on October 19, 2009, 08:08:23 PM I agree about not needing a ridiculous sound card. An SB Live! has worked just fine for me, although my setup is very much 2.1 at the most. If you're doing some surround sound madness then perhaps you can justify it. Other than that, this thing should be pretty freaking ridiculous.
