I picked up watching Soccer and even cycling following the Tour de France with Lance, which both of those ending up being great, what with the Americans doing so good in the Confeds Cup, beating 34 game undefeated #1 Spain. Tour was great with Lance too, to watch him hang with those kids 10-17 years younger than him. Really inspirational.

Yeah, though I'm really excited to see the Tigers in action with the new weapons they have + a very interesting SEC conference.

I'm not sure how this sucker punch/fair fight crap got to be so important.  The few times in my life that I have actually felt threatened enough or been in a situation I couldn't walk away from I pretty much did every thing I could to make sure I was hurting the other guy more then he could hurt me.

I expect any other person to act the same way, which is why I generaly try my hardest to avoid situations like that.    

Ok I see what's going on now.

 Apparently Blount was running his mouth about what he was going to do to Boise before the game. So that guy had something to say about it after they lost and Blount couldn't handle it, so he went on a sucker punching spree, hitting not only that guy, but punching a teammate, then had to be restrained from going after some folks in the crowd, and he later punched at one of the guys carrying him out.

Lesson here is don't talk shit before the game if you can't afford to pay the bill after you lose. Fucking sucker punching sissy shit.

Sportsmanship really has to go both ways.  (Pistions fans)  It's easy to talk smack from behind a barrier with four security guards restraining an athlete.  And when you can duck behind your buddies like a little bitch.  

It looked like the Boise player was saying "good game" or something and the Oregon guy flipped out.  Suspend him, but then take that fan's season tickets away.

It would be nice to see athletes held accountable for their actions like the rest of the world.  How many times have you seen drug issues, fighting, shooting even killing happening with athletes involved and almost nothing happens to them.  If they do get reprimanded it is a minor charge compared to anyone else would have received.

Go out into your office and in front of a large gathering of people sucker punch someone and see what happens.  Not only will the cops drag you away in hand cuffs for assault charges, you'll more than likely be fired on the spot for work place violence.  Put that on your resume and see how many places are going to want to hire you.

The owners of all pro sports seriously need to start putting riders into contracts of all of the players that if they purposely chooses to sit out from training camp, games or whatever they decide that the owners do not have to pay them the agreed on amount.  Your making $21 million but decide your not making enough and want to renegotiate mid season or middle of your contract, well then fine we're gonna sit your ass on the bench and pay you league minimum for the remainder of your contract.  See how well you like making 1/10th or less of what you were making because you were upset about making more money in a year than 70-80% of people could hope to make in a lifetime.

I know I'm a Wolverines fan so this will probably be seen as bashing but I was rooting for OSU to win because they are Big 10 and always root for the conference teams.  The only reason the bucks lost that game was because Pryor or however you spell his name is not all he was supposed to be.  There were a number of passes that if he had taken the extra second to step forward and plant his foot he probably would have completed the pass.  Instead he was off balance or throwing off his back foot anytime he caught a glimpse of a USC guy in the backfield. Better hope he toughens up a bit more or Tressel wises up and puts someone else in otherwise OSU is going to lose more big games because of Pryor.


On another note Forcier looked damn good against the Irish, but will have to wait and see how well he plays against a real football team.  Glad to see Charlie Weiss has yet to do shit with the vaunted Notre Dame football teams.  Maybe they should ask for a refund of that 9 million dollars they are paying him to consistently lose.

I did some math, using your logic about a team beating a team and so on, and since unranked Arkansas lost to Florida by 3 points, but LSU lost to Florida by 10 points, Arkansas is 7 points better than LSU.

I'm not normally a Saints fan, but this year my state's team is putting the work in. I've watched the last 4 games now, and I have to say Brees is magic when he's out there. I've watched alot of football quarterbacks, but there is nothing to describe how Brees does it. It's not like watching any other team quarterback I've seen, feeling iffy about throwing a pick or going 3 and out. It's like damn near certain that he is going to take them down the field when he goes out there.

I honestly feel like ive never seen a better quarterback, the guy has impressed me that much.

Its going to be a tough call, I don't know who I would favor more to win the SB now, Vikes or Saints.

I guess I should favor the Saints, being they are just across the lake, though I like the comeback Cinderella story of Favre.

Ugh.  Tressel is all about keeping an even keel at all times.  Never too high, never too low.  It's commendable that he can stand his ground to such pressure, but at times it feels like he's just being stubborn for the sake of being stubborn.

Pryor is a great athlete, but he is inconsistent (at best) at maintaining his composure and making smart decisions.

It was. Kinda funny to, when Stafford got hurt he went to the sidelines and the medical staff was working with him. When he heard there was a timeout, he managed to get back out there and hike the ball all while the medical staff was like wtf and trying to get him back on sideline. I will agree the SEC did have a bad year, Georgia, LSU, TENN all preformed much lower then expected. South Carolina was probably the only team performing at the level expected. With that said SEC did lose a lot of bowls, but remember there are 2 SEC in the BSC bowls, 2 NON-BSC teams meaning the NON-SEC teams that went up against them failed (Oregon). In a bad year, they still were the best conference. The Big12 could be a good conference, but it is so screwed up and needs to be balanced on each side to fix 4 teams beating each other up and having to play Cornhuskers in Con Championship.

OSU and FL ended on a good note. LSU lost, but was still played strong and will represent their final rank well. Boise will continue to talk, they did beat Oregon, who didn't help Boise look good by failing to end the year strong. ACC fails as a conference, perhaps Boise should join the ACC, then it would have a chance to run the tables and make it to the national championship, wait ACC stands for Atlantic, nm.

Anyways, FL will probably suck next year with a throwing quarterback and no WRs. But I can take comfort USC had the worst year in their history and went to a really really crappy bowl that would make even FSU look good this year. I think we can all enjoy that, the silence of at least USC not complaining they should be the National Champion. Boise is ruining it though...

I think for me whichever team had won, it would have felt like a bittersweet victory, which it does.
I would have liked for Favre to have gone out with a Superbowl win. At the same time I can't help but appreciate what the Saints have done this season, which has been long overdue for this state.

I'd hope Favre would come back next year and win a SB, and put a capstone on the career of a man who refuses to surrender.

Saints targeted his body too much. It was a good game can't complain. Not happy with outcome, but it was a bad night for the vikings, way to many turnovers. The fact they came so close to winning it says something. Colts defense is slightly better then vikings, so as long as the Colts don't grease their hands like Peterson should be a mildly calm win for the Colts.

ESPN's NFL Live did a great breakdown of the bad calls at the end of the Vik&Saint game. 4th down guy fumbled had get control, forward progression should have been lost, pass interference call in slow-mo and showed about a foot between both guys falling at same time untouched, and the last completion ball was on ground. Well.. so far Boise has played one rank team based on the current updated rankings. That would be #20 Virginia Tech. There is still Nevada who is #21st, looking at their schedule you can understand why they are 1 loss and ranked 21st. If you look into the future even if Boise wins, they will in essence also knock Nevada out of the Top 25 once again leaving Boise with only one (low) ranked team on their schedule.

Big Ben is a great quarterback in the fourth, still hard even for be as a steelers fan to say greatest. I think if he gets another superbowl win he would be eligible for the hall of fame, but not top 10 QB status. He is mostly overshadowed by the steelers defense, legal issues, and personality issues. I was reading a tech blog review of a laptop earlier, and it brought up an interesting metaphor comparing the hate Apple products get much like "how a Yankee and/or Steelers fan always has plenty of people hating".

In addition studies showing every time a team wins a championship they gain fans for a certain percent, but also a near equal percent to people that will hate that team. It seems if you want to pick a team no one hates or laughs at, find one that never wins championships but always makes the playoffs, but never a championship.

Oh oh, final interesting stat: In the last 10 years 9 times either the Pats, Colts, or Steelers won the AFC. In the last 10 years, every NFC winner has been different. Pretty cool. Always felt AFC was much more competative and had better teams, but seems the NFC is probably more competitive. But AFC has won 7 out of 10 superbowls.

Technically speaking, Steelers fans have a reputation for taking their team too seriously and can kind of behave like douches.  Sometimes it can be funny identifying myself as an OSU fan and a Steelers fan (no offense, but there are a lot of Buckeye fans that give us the same reputation as Steelers fans).  Everyone just has to remember that Football is there for fun and is not srs business.

That being said, it is very hard to root for a guy like Big Ben, and while he certainly is a pretty good QB, I agree with him not really being top 10 status.

Listen. You will never be able to knock a South Carolina fan off the high from last year and coming into this year.  USC has sucked for nearly its entire history. Just being that high in the AP preseason poll is a win for us. I swear to God, I see people wearing shirts with the date and score commemorating the win against Alabama.

Yeah LSU is way overrated this year. I maintain that the preseason polls are ignorant, and this is no exception despite the fact it's my preferred team.

I try and think of what we've got that would make us so high, but nothing comes to mind, since much of the squad is depleted from moving on last year.

I mean other than Jordan J. who isn't spectacular to begin with, oh wait, he's under police investigation about a bar fight..

Anyways it should be interesting LSU opening the season with Oregon. Not even sure we will have JJ as QB, so I think Baton Rouge will have to open a Crisis Control Center soon enough.

Damn college football is great to be opening a game up with so much on the line. I know theres some haters for it, but I got to say I love the BCS system for bringing that kind of excitement opening day, rather than siting hands in a lap over some preseason NFL practice games.
