Title: need some help from you gear heads Post by: thrun on May 21, 2009, 05:58:19 PM I really want a trike, there is an old Rupp on craigslist right now. The pictures are with the body off.
http://columbus.craigslist.org/mcy/1181685566.html What is an "outer case bearing" and what would it cost to fix something like that? let's say I have to have one made and can't find the part, is that possible? I have a guy that could do the work, he is on vacation right now or I would ask him. Title: Re: need some help from you gear heads Post by: Snackcakes on May 21, 2009, 06:12:24 PM JT?
Title: Re: need some help from you gear heads Post by: Turkley on May 21, 2009, 06:49:24 PM If its a bearing set on the crank case, it probably wouldn't be bad, according to the motorcycle guy I work with. Its hard to tell what that guy means tho.
Title: Re: need some help from you gear heads Post by: Jim Tressel on May 21, 2009, 06:58:12 PM He said "in engine", so he might mean the main crank bearing? Could also be a crank case bearing? Hard to tell even though Hillbilly was my first language. Either way, motorcycle engines and trannies are pretty simple to work on. Go ahead a buy it. You'll be the cock of the walk at your scenester meetings!

As far as the 1st one, not sure if its even a bike motor. Could possibly be a VW kit type thing. OK I just did a little lookup on rupp trikes. Seems like they have all kinds of engines. Pics of rupp trikes finished here: http://trikes.50megs.com/index2.html Find out what motor it has and see the availability of parts then you can tell if it's worth fixing.
