Title: Codecs and windows update Post by: Stugots on November 06, 2008, 05:21:22 AM OK, I've been kind of downloading DVD rips from mininova.com, and before I had to reinstall my system, everything was great. Good video, audio etc etc.
Now, the video looks like hell and sometimes the audio doesnt sync very well. Also some vids wont play (already installed ac3 audio codec and divx). Also, windows update won't work. I try to click on it in my start menu and all that does is open MSN.com. Anyone know what is up with the updater? Broken? Any help would be appreciated. Firefox is always crashing, nothing updates Is it possible the virus I got is still on here somewhere? ( I did a quick format when I reinstalled windows). Should I start over and do it again? Title: Re: Codecs and windows update Post by: Snackcakes on November 06, 2008, 06:44:05 PM are all your drivers properly installed? and did you back up any files and put them back onto the machine?

Title: Re: Codecs and windows update Post by: Stugots on November 07, 2008, 03:41:15 AM Yeah I actually bought xp pro a few years back (upgrade) and did that, but things still seem weird with my compy.
Especially firefox crashing, nothing updating and popups. Title: Re: Codecs and windows update Post by: Phat31198 on November 07, 2008, 11:00:48 PM G Spot http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

Sigh. I tried installing that silverlight thing, thought it may have been the new windows update, but it needs windows update to ...update and it can't connect. I fucking hate windows. Maybe the new version of firefox is bad? Title: Re: Codecs and windows update Post by: ch0wdah on November 10, 2008, 05:21:50 AM Stu you know what you need to do is you need to grow up.
Title: Re: Codecs and windows update Post by: Jim Tressel on November 10, 2008, 05:33:50 AM Hmmmmm, this is a very strange issue. At this point, I'd rule out hardware failure. Are you installing from a Windows XP Pro Upgrade disk, or am I misunderstanding you? If that's the case, PM me your address and I'll get you fixed up right quick.
Title: Re: Codecs and windows update Post by: Stugots on November 10, 2008, 03:53:02 PM I just realized something.
When I repartitioned and formated the HD yesterday, it left 8mb unformatted and unpartitioned. In other words, it hasnt been touched since this all began. Title: Re: Codecs and windows update Post by: Phat31198 on November 11, 2008, 03:35:26 PM It's Supposed to do that you dummy -_-
