At times its hard to make things look "futuristic" you can also argue that the planes look like the Hunter/Seekers in the Terminator series but whatever.  Shit will always look like something else

If you reall want to argue it , They both look like the Battle Tech univ. with the mechs, VOTL, Lazers, game a game, Lets just see if the multi player can hold up to the scale of Planetside.

I got in the beta late thursday night, it's pretty fun, there are some obvious issues but nonetheless it is still fun. Titan raiding doesn't get old for me, although the ground combat kind of does. I need a bro to play this game with.

So far it has the feel of BF2, but with cool weapons and armor.  I love the hover tank.  It's just like a magrider, but with better control I think.  I did well with it for the short couple rounds I played.  Anyway, it's late and I gotta get some sleep.  Tomorrow I'll try to get some fraps captures for everyone.

There any place you dont have to pay to get into the beta. I got a account threw fileplanet but its not one of those monthly fee ones.

Ah bummer lol. Well I watched some of the game play video's that I found off I think IGN but who ever recorded it wasnt that great but still the game looks neat for what little there was. I have it pre ordered but thats about it.

Any ways how is the game? I seen a short vid of the hovertank and for the most part it does look like the mag in performance/handleing.  And the mechs they serve any purpose or are they sort of like the bfrs where they use to be nasty killing machines hard to take out.

What type of combat classes are there is it simular to BF2? Or are they set up differnlty.

Well I've just been working with the hover tank right now and I love it.  The mechs I haven't found yet... seen them, but since I have been focused on the tank, I haven't spawned at different locations yet.  The game requires a relatively beefy machine such as yours.  I have a p4 2.66 with 1.5 gig and a geforce 6800 wiuth 128mb and its playable.  Running fraps tonight killed me due to stutter on screen.  I'm gonna turn down some of the video stuff and see how it goes.  There is a kit you can get that cloaks 90% of your body... pretty sweet.  Seen some of them lurking around, but I'd have to focus on recon for that one.

Well the game itself plays much like Battlefield 2, there are some good differences in gameplay. First of all, you only have four kits, Recon, Assault, Engineer, Support. This doesn't mean that diversity got cut out, you can customize these kitsm a new feature in BF2142. You can have a squad leader item, one of three rifles (You only have one per kit when you start out) and two extra class-specific items, plus the ability to equip heavy body armor.

Who here remembers the ships in Battlefield 1942!? You can move the aircraft carrier! A big disappointment for me in BF2 was that you could not do that. What's the good part about BF2142? This game's version of an Aircraft Carrier is the Titan, and it's massive, and it can be moved around the map!

My most favorite thing of all, I really, REALLY hate to admit, is how badass the buggies are.. SHIT those things are fast, but frail, but still, HOLY SHIT.

Those buggies move way too fast for my system.  I'm doing a complete reinstall of XP anyway.... been a long time.  We'll see how things run after that.  I really need to hook up with you to understand the gameflow better.  The servers I've been on, it's every man for himself with no real tactics.

Hawkes, one of the thigns I've noticed is that BF2142's graphics are far more resource-intensive than they are for BF2. Switch your settings to medium if you're around the high mark and you WILL notice a significant increase in performance, for me it reduced every single bit of lag for some stupid reason. There's still some FPS drops, but that's it.

Well I played for about 2 hours before I took a break about 96% done on my rank. So far I only seen one map and not sure if there are other maps or not.

Not gotten to take part in a titan fight or even gotten to be up on one yet. Cant figure out how to spawn up there or jump up to it. I played around with the armor with the hover tank and the main tanks and the armor transports.

I not really seen much troop vs troop its been more of a armor vs armor or inf vs armor most conflicts i seen.

The only map and mode is available is Verdun in Titan mode.  You're playing it Alex, you just need a good squad to show you the ropes as I do.  So late Saturday night I was having some sluggishness with my PC and did a complete reinstall on my OS not thinking that the beta key gets locked out after the first time it is entered.  I had a really hard time trying to find the account I had my sub under (I have 3 accts under the IGN network.... don't ask why).  I finally found it this morning on a total guess, but that's not what is important.  So the key is still invalid.  I sent an email asking if they can release the beta key or if I should just try for another.  We'll see how it goes.

On a side note, this OS reformat which should have taken me all of about 1-2 hours turned into a friggin nightmare.  I have just about everything back in now so I'll be making an image of the desktop so the next time I don't have to deal with the BS I went through.  What a bitch of a time I had.  Ugh.

You know... the more I think about this, the more I think we should start up the BF2142 Wolverine clan.  I've been putting WOLV as my clan tag when I play and I think we could all benefit from helping each other out in respect to gameplay.  Thoughts everyone?

I locked in SgtHawkes as my BF soldier name.  You'll need your EA account name and PW and your BF2 soldier name and PW.

Also, the 2142 site has some great info on the character types and the unlocks available to each one and as Shaf said earlier, you can customize you character if you don't like to cookie cutter version.

I cant seem to remember my EA name/pass (or if I even have one)....and when I go to make a new one, it tells me BCKrogoth is already taken, but when I go to "forgot your password" and enter BCKrogoth, it tells me the information I have entered is invalid, and wont send me the email. wtf?!

Well I gave the game a real real long play last night and for the most part got everything figured out. Not impressed with the mech does almost 0 dmg to tanks at least the version i keep getting into lol. I just wish there was more then just that one map im sort of starting to get bored with it. Figured otu how to get on titans though I wish It was a bit easyer to get up and defend your titans then it currently is with out having to die.

The titans main guns seem a tad to weak sept for the aircraft guns and the titans themself seem to easy to take out basicly one guy could take one out in a mater of minutes giving no time for defenders unless they where already set up way before the shield died. I noticed the titan slowly moveing around after the shields get to a point but I have no figured out how to controll the ship itself if it can be controlled. I am also still trying to figure out how to get the shield system on tanks to function I see other people fireing them off but I not figured the golden trick yet I guess.

Anyhow im off to play again almost to another rank lol.

The tank's countermeasures are activated by hitting x.

Keep in mind Alex that you are playing beta.  There will be other maps and gameplay changes as it progresses, but you have to submit your feedback otherwise it's a waste of time.

Krogoth did you play BF2?  If so, you should have an EA account.  Remember, it's two usernames and passwords.  Also, go to EA.com's account support site and try to look it up there.

Yea I figured out most of the stuff. Im about 75 points from Corp gold and been playing eng primary though I might start doing another class soon. The gun the end has is just weak and has trouble killing most guys it seems like. AV needs some fine tuneing as sometimes I fire it at a tank in the rear section or on the side and it does little to no dmg almost point blank.

Alot of the stuff the engineer gets for unlocks are preatty sad for the most part. The one mine you get before the anti air weapon as far as I can tell has yet to even attack anything let alone do dmg and its movement speed is extremly slow the one time I seen it go after a vech. The Emp mine is okay if they actully hit it but most time its not even worth putting it down. Alot of these mines/emp mines and what not friendlys trigger them so its difficult to set up any type of defence area as people just dont pay attention and drive over them.

I like the armored personal carriers as you can actully launch the transport pods from them (one way to get to the titan from the ground) but mainly people use them as fast travel to other flags. I seen that stealth suit alot lately (keep getting knifed in the back by them) but I wish there was some way to reveal them or defend against them cause they basicly throw the suit up and have free rain of the area.

Theres alot of things that just scream PS when you look at the game and how things are set up. I am probly going to work on getting engineer done unlock wise to test out the AV rifle and the anti air rocket soon. I got about 3 unlocks to go for the rifle I should of did the points differnt orignaly but oh well to late now.

i play as suport and one of the unlocks is to give the cloakers an outline, makes them much easier to see

Sure there is sadly they are not the ones who can do a damn thing about it.

I'm playing to. I like it so far but there are so many holes in the game its amazing I hope they can fix that shit for the release. I found so far a way to be a GOD while commander and 3 different holes into enemy ship while the shields are up. Air needs some serious work as well I crashed with no reason way to many times.

I attempted to play yesterday.  I got into one game and I was driving in some sort of vehicle I could shoot from too looking for someone to rip apart, and while I was driving I hit the tab key and my computer rebooted.  So I try to get back into game and it loads all the way, then after the bar is done I get the walking mech animation and then it tells me it can't find my connection.  So then I try again and the game just shuts off.   

So..  I went to update my display drivers looking on ATIs site and I can't find the ones I should download to match mine (9600SE) and I got bored and decided to play games on Xbox Live

I heard there are only 4 kits in BF2142 instead of 7. Whats the deal with that? Are the kits consolidated for more like one man army type stuff?

Yeah you get to build your own class with unlocks so for example assault class get medical equipment. Engineer can unlock all kinda of AT, recon can get all kinds of cloaking crap etc.

And you can customize kits too... haven't tried this yet though.

They way it works is that you have for example 2 belt slots and 3 possible unlocked kits you can pick. So you need to customize if you going into the ship in a squad or commanding unit in a field etc

Well I think eather im going to stop playing for a while or till they patch the game right now it just feels like theres to many "good" players in the lines of posible hackers but I cant prove it. Theres also a ton of people who are now starting to use exploits inside the titans (cliping and what not) so its starting to create problems where its becoming unfun to play.

OK... new beta up guys... downloading it now.  1.36G so about 35 minutes depending on your connection speed.

Also, fileplanet is giving out an additional 12,000 keys or so to anyone. The site says it is closed, but I don't think they released them yet.  EA will also be giving out about 10,000 keys.  So watch fileplanet for your chance to jump in without a sub.

Honestly its probly worse off then the last one being stable. CTD's still happen fairly often if not even more and the servers themself crash almost on a regular basis.
