Title: Big Bang Machine Post by: Stallionite on September 09, 2008, 07:10:13 PM The end of the world as we know it?
9/10/08 12:30AM EDT Not if Chuck Norris has anything to say about..... (look at the last sentance in this article, classic!) "Chuck Norris doesn't look for God Particles — he creates them." http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,419404,00.html Title: Re: Big Bang Machine Post by: Turkley on September 09, 2008, 08:24:09 PM I thought they weren't testing any collisions until Oct 21st. I think the test tomorrow is if they can sustain a beam in one direction first. Babysteps.

Title: Re: Big Bang Machine Post by: Nightstalker on September 10, 2008, 12:07:22 PM It's really a interesting read. It's a snare for the mind, as i've contemplated potential positive and negative scenarios to come out of this.
You may be suprised to learn that we already have one here in the U.S., the only difference being that the one discussed in the article is 4 times bigger. Yeah, the difference some people are saying is exactly that. They think because its bigger, that it will create black holes that will swallow up the earth. In reality, no one knows what will happen and no one really understands black holes enough to be able to predict anything about one. Title: Re: Big Bang Machine Post by: Dementedi on September 10, 2008, 12:48:54 PM I'd like to say good bye to everyone now. It's been a fun trip!

I think the test tomorrow is if they can sustain a beam in one direction first. Babysteps. Rando is right. They test fired the beam in one direction, then they will test the other direction - then the big bang. so the gates of hell ripping open is still a possibility Title: Re: Big Bang Machine Post by: Turkley on September 10, 2008, 01:52:43 PM I thought they weren't testing any collisions until Oct 21st.
