Title: Software-based KVM Post by: Jim Tressel on August 28, 2007, 06:51:34 PM If anyone out there has a multiple monitor, multiple computer, single keyboard/mouse setup like me, I highly recommend you check out a software-based KVM called Synergy. I heard about it from The Gout and Gron and just set it up last night. It is really amazing how well it works. Basically, you install the software on each computer and set one up as a "server" that has the keyboard and mouse physically plugged into it. Then you set the others (up to 4) up as clients. The keyboard and mouse remain plugged into the "server" machine the whole time. No need for hotkey switching or anything like that. You just drag the cursor from one screen to the other as if it's a dual monitor set up on a single computer. It seemlessly switches the input from one computer to the other. It also allows you to copy clipboard data across computers. It's pretty phenomenal, and free. Check it out if you're interested:
