Title: what mobos work with PC3200 memory?
Post by: Armonde on August 16, 2007, 12:24:37 AM
My mobo just died, or at least I think its the culprit. (Keyboard and mouse dying exact same second? not likely) I have a brand new 1gb stick of PC3200 ram I bought about 3 months ago, and would like to reuse if possible, as I also have another 512 or so I can slap in. Just can't remember what goes with what anymore. What motherboard/CPUs could I get that would accept the memory? I currently have a processor that is the celeron version of the P4 prescott line I think. I wouldnt mind a little upgrade in cpu, as long as it will work with my memory. ( yeah im cheap but I just dropped about $700 a few months ago for my laptop and cant afford a total overhaul.)

thanks in advance

PC3200 is 400MHz I think... that would be most 845pe motherboards and up.  I think you'll need one with an 800MHz FSB to support the PC3200.  What was the old mobo you had?

Ok, digged up the old invoice, I had a Soyo SY-P4RC350 socket 478 motherboard, and a Intel Celeron D 315 Prescott 2.26 ghz processor. I bought a new video card a while ago and shut off the built in one. The motherboard has been giving me trouble for about a year + though, one of the memory slots wasnt working , so I guess it was caughing and sputtering long before now.
